Au Fil de la Double

The Pastoralisme en Double association opens the doors of its workshop for an immersion in authentic craftsmanship. Here, ewe's wool is transformed before your very eyes, from raw material to finished product.
The wool used comes from the ewes of Thérèse Kohler, nicknamed the landless shepherdess. In the workshop, the craftswomen will take you through all the stages of its transformation: carding, spinning, felting and weaving. Several traditional machines are in operation, including a carding machine, a felting machine, looms and spinning wheels.
During your visit, you'll be able to observe the manufacture of carpets and numerous felt objects, all made entirely by hand. It's a great opportunity to understand the painstaking work of wool, and to meet the passionate people who perpetuate these traditional crafts.
